The Shires Junior Golf Tour organise a collection of quality junior golf events around the Midlands for boys and girls of all ages and abilities at the best venues.
9 Hole events are played at the back of the 18 hole events! So even our youngest beginners get to experience what the main events are like and play some amazing courses. We take as much pride introducing youngsters to the game as we do rewarding scholarships to our older, extremely talented juniors.
We run 11 events per year all around the Midands. 8 Order of Merit events and 2 Special Team events. One Sunday a month around 12pm tee off!
Our tournaments are jam packed with fun. Expect lots of challenges, a grand first tee experience, lots of laughs and fantastic prizes.
The tee sheets and prizes at each event are broken into divisions:
9 Hole division play from handicap qualifying tees in order to achieve or lower the handicap. Flag 50 play from our “Mini Tees” to make the game as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Flag 50
Flag 50 is a fantastic format for the youngsters to gain experience, learn and have a blast on the course. Players tee off from our mini tees and carry a flag. Once they complete 50 shots they stick the flag in the ground and get a photo! Complete 9 holes in 50 shots or less to move into the Mini Tour.
Mini Tour
The Mini Tour is for those looking to gain a handicap after being promoted from Flag 50 OR for those with a handicap of 37+. These events are Gross 9 Hole from qualifying tees. Players are rewarded with fabulous prizes and essentials each event. Once a players achieves a handicap of -36 they can move into the main events!
SCORING
The tour prides itself in using the latest scoring technology. We use GolfGenius software. All players input their scores into a mobile device which updates automatically to the live leaderboard in the clubhouse! Everything is set up up before play, so, the players can just focus on playing!
RULES
9 Hole players must follow the R&A Rules of golf as it is from qualifying tees. Flag 50 players have a limit of 10 shots per hole, can pick and place anywhere and have 3 chances out of the bunker until they can drop- nice and easy!
Each 9 hole player must have a caddy and wear the Shires Tour caddy bib. This is to ensure players are safe and following the rules set by the tour, and most importantly having fun.
Caddies can guide a player, help club selection, motivate players, ball spot etc. All caddies will be briefed before play. Make sure to get a photo of these treasured moments!
